Much to our surprise we have noticed that our tulip are emerging. After investingating our own family gardens and those of our neighbors we found that everyone has emerging bulbs. We reviewed our January temperatures and decided that the unusually warm days may be one of the reasons our tulips have emerged. Since finding the tulips we have added another bail of hay to our garden and a powder to keep out the little critters. We believe that some tulip tops may have been eaten by squirrels or rabbits and others turned brown because of the freezing temperatures.
