Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 02/27/2006

Number: 1

I was hiking at Severson Dells County Forest Preserve in late afternoon. The large flock of male Robins were passing through from place to place. They came through in small groups of 2 to 3 being very vigilant. They didn't seem at all perturbed about my presence perching on branches just over my head. I wondered if they were being cautious about predatory birds like hawks or Bald Eagles. One group would come through and stay for about 30 seconds or so then move on. Another group then would come through. I'd never seen this happen before and it was fascinating to observe.
