Bald Eagle

Date: 02/27/2006

Number: 1

Walking around the swamp near our home, we sighted a large bird flying away from us with a dark body and white tail. A bit later we saw the bird in a dead tree and the white head was clearly seen as well. Soon it took off and circled over the swamp and then away to the northeast. I've seen heron in the swamp, red-tailed hawks overhead there, and turkeys nearby, but never expected to see an eagle so close to home!
