I saw a bald eagle sitting on the ice on a pond in the wetlands protected area just across the Nebraska/Iowa border on Hwy 2 near Interstate 80 east of Nebraska City, Nebraska. It was holding something in its foot, tearing it, and eating it. I'm guessing it was a fish. There used to be a nest in a large dead tree across the highway which has fallen this winter. I don't know if this is one of the eagles that nested there or just one bird following the migrating geese and ducks north.
