Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/07/2006

Number: 1

This morning at 8:13 AM I heard the loud call of our first Red-winged Blackbird saying,"Oak-lee", to all of the birds down by our brook, Lubber's Run. I saw him sitting on a tall Cattail reed, fluffing his shoulders and singing out to all who would listen. He was quite a beautiful male with truly crimson red shoulder patches. Maybe spring will arrive to our area soon?
