My daughter exclaimed that she saw a robin in our yard (the first we have seen at our house this year) so we rushed to the window and counted at least 8 robins on the ground. We quietly went outside and heard them singing "cheerily cheerup". They seemed to be pecking the ground too. A few days before this we had dug 3 or 4 inches down into the ground (in our garden area where we usually see plenty of earthworms when it is warmer) and not come across any earthworms. The day we saw the group of robins was overcast and around 50 degrees.
