I was out in the garden cleaning it up when I noticed one of my daylilies had sent a runner into the grass. Not wanting this to eventually get mown over, I gently removed it to transplant later. In the process, two fat, healthy earthworms squiggled to the surface! I replaced each of them under a nearby rock, and packed some lose soil around it. What a happy sight! No doubt the robins I just reported singing will find them a happy sight as well!
