Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/10/2006

Number: 1

As I walked out of the house this morning to get the newspaper I heard what sounded like a warbler singing in the snowy woods. By the time I reached the end of the driveway I heard the voices of tens of red-winged blackbirds, singing from the streambed below the meadow. They must have flown in behind the warm front that spread north during the night. Here's today's weather map with an arrow behind the front.
