Yard List for Jan.&Feb. 2006
Cool
temperatures and my absence from home in mid-January and the last
portion of February hampered yard observations. A one-night freeze in
mid-January hit many of my plants, but butterflies still were able to
feed on native agarito and a few exotics such as Mexican heather,
wandering lantanas, pentas, and little-leaf viburnum. Species recorded
included:

38. Monarch (Danaus plexippus): loners on 2/6 & 7.

39. Queen (D. gilippus): several on 1/ 2-8, 11-15, 24, 25 & 31; 1-3 on
2/1, 3-8 & 12-15.

40. Soldier (D. eresimus): loners on 1/3 & 6.
