Butterflies Found at Rockport, Aransas Co., Tx, Feb. 16, 2005 I gave a
talk on "Big Bend Superlatives, Birds and Butterflies" on the evening
of Feb. 16 to the Rockport Nature Club, so Betty and I spent the day
checking out the butterflies of the area. Sites visited included the
Green Acres garden, Rockport Cemetery, Connie Hager Preserve, and Cape
Valero area, in that order of productivity. The day was overcast much
of the time and warm; a cold front arrived that evening. Here is what
we
recorded:

26. Monarch (Danaus plexippus): 5-6 at Green Acres
27. Queen (D.
gilippus): common
