Monarch Egg (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/13/2006

Number: 1

Saw at least a dozen monarchs today in Dallas -- mostly females. Eggs were found on Asclepias viridis and A. asperula. Milkweeds have broken ground are anywhere from 1/4 inch to 1" in size. One really robust A. asperula clump had stalks that were over 10 inches! That was definitely the exception to the rule, however.
