Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/12/2006

Number: 1

Since Sunday we have been looking for monarchs and have seen just two or three at a time. Lary and Nidia saw a monarch, then saw two in a different place.

This last Sunday, I had three monarchs here at home and continued to see monarchs here until yesterday (March 14). Today it is a bit cold and there are no monarchs.

Note added by Mike Quinn, Texas Monarch Watch: Usually, the leading edge of the migration from the overwintering colonies hits the Rio Grande/Rio Bravo around the Ides of March (March 15th).
