Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Writing from San Miguel de Allende;north of sanctuaries.

My friends told me when I arrived from Zitacuaro that monarchs were moving through yesterday & the day before.

I stood by a three-meter (estimated) deep drain ditch from 10:04 to
10:19 today and counted 11 monarchs moving past my observation point along in a circa NW direction, none moving south east, though one moved NW and then returned past the observation heading SE. I had decided to quit my count at 10:19, but saw few butterflies fly along the ditch after that anyway. I did see a few in flight without direction. All the butterflies were flying low in the ditch.
