The male goldfinches are beginning to change into their beautiful yellow and black plumage.We have had an abundance of goldfinches in Northern New Jersey over the winter and especially the last month or so--many will head further north once the weather breaks. Because to their change to a darker plumage in winter, alot of people do not realize that they are around in the wintertime. Hanging a thistle feeder or thistle sock filled with nyger seed will bring them into the yard.
