We went to the post office on the far west side of town at 4:25 and were surprised to cross paths with a couple of monarchs moving almost due north. We headed out into the country southwest of town and after thirty-five minutes had seen eighteen more monarchs.
Some were hunting along the country roads for milkweed but most were on a dedicated path into the north wind, flying between five and eight feet. We haven't seen twenty monarchs in less than an hour in several months. Fade of those we got a good look at was split between 2-3 and 4-5.
