Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/21/2006

Number: 1

We had our usual batch of monarchs right before Christmas. Were they migrants or just hanging around? I don't know, and they never tell!
I also had at least two batches of eggs laid in March - they're in Chrysalis now. I usually try to get rid of last year's milkweed so that I get rid of any parasites within, but it's getting harder and harder to know where one season ends and another begins.
The milkweed started sprouting out a month ago, to coincide with the adults that were here. They are not in numbers, just oneses and twosies, but obviously they are finding each other.
I am in extreme n Florida, and we had a soft winter this year with a couple of freezes, but only brief ones.
