This is the time of year to switch the birdfeeders to a higher concentration of sunflower seeds due to KaChing being back. That dratted blackbird teeters on shoveling millet till they are empty! Only the doves and juncos appreciate his antics. The birds have really cleaned up the white form of millet this year. Only the doves seem to eat the red form. The new feeder's narrow feeding area, really makes that stubborn old bird work! The red wing blackbirds all came back together and for about a week there was much prancing and breeding behavior. The ladies must've tired of the constant uproar to impress them and gone to the mall! The guys have gone back to challenging each other issuing thoaty gurgles from every treetop and fencepost, diving ahd pursuing. No more red flashes as they posture - no lady birds to impress!
