Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/25/2006

Number: 1

March 25, 2006

Adult monarch flying over highway 270 near Exit 8. I
cannot be 100% sure it was a Monarch, but I did see a large butterfly
cross the highway in front of our windshield, that really looked like
a Monarch.
It
appeared to be flying Northwest. But of course, if there are look alike
species already out there, I could not tell the difference at the speed
we were going on the highway. if it was a swallowtail, it was not one
of the yellow ones. It was a lot darker than the yellow swalowtails. I
could not observe it up close, like when they are on the milkweed in my
backyard. I did get a relatively good view because I was in the passenger
seat... I surely would not like to mess up your data!
