A strong wind was blowing from the southwest. From my backyard, on a ridge on the westside of the Franklin Mountains, a monarch flew into the backyard and caught a gust of wind and flew on northward. A second monarch came through the same path soon after.

Another monarch made its way through my backyard today. There was a slight breeze (10-15 mph) on the west side of the mountain. I am convinced my backyard is in a flight path for birds--and maybe monarchs. There is a steady stream of an odd selection of wildlife that passes through.
