All Other Signs of Spring

The beautiful warm day brought about lots of changes in the garden. Two frogs reappeared in the pond, the hardy water lily leaves are showing above the water, a daffodil is blooming, the honeysuckle bush is almost completely leafed out, a magnolia tree down the street will be blooming in a day or two (this is very early!!!) Many perrenials are now pushing through the mulch-hyacinths have buds and the quince buds are fat and ready to burst. The male cardinal is no longer tolerating other males in the yard. There are plenty of gnats flying around and under the mulch lots of crawly things are stirring about--good news for the robin. The fox sparrow and juncos are still here, they could be leaving soon if the weather stays temperate.
