Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/28/2006

Number: 1

A student spotted a monarch butterfly in his backyard. He reported it to me on Thursday as we were being dismissed from school. I have shown the students a picture of a Monarch Butterfly and a picture of a Tiger Swallowtail, which is more common around here. They know the difference, so I asked him to describe the butterfly. He said, "It was orange, not yellow".
