It doesn't happen every year, but every once in awhile during the spring migration right around dusk we get visited a mob of hummingbirds.
We had our first genuinely spring-like day today which may have had something to do with it, just short of 65F.
I counted at least 8 male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS, 1 female Rufous (my first of the year) and an SY male ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD, dogfighting around the feeders.
Michelle and I watched for about a half hour 'til it got too dark to see. They are remarkably tame during these mob events, close enough to reach out an grab. Hopefully, we'll get a couple days of this behavior and I can get some snaps with the new camera.
