Today the Columbia Audubon Society had a morning field trip to the
Charleston Natural History Society's Wannamaker Nature Preserve, 4 miles east of St. Matthews in Calhoun County, SC.There were lots of butterflies along all of the trails.
After lunch we checked out the new Bates Fork Tract of Congaree National Park, along US 601 in Richland County,SC. The Monarch observered here was the first of the season for me. I have not yet noticed any milkweed, butI have not searched for it, either.
