Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/07/2006

Number: 1

Adult,...bright colors, sighted 4pm April 7th, 2006. Monarch was flying slowly in southeastern direction in pasture while dipping to "sample" plants. Conditions were sunny, with gusty south/southwesterly winds approx. 15-20 miles per hour. We have had a great deal of severe thunderstorms and tornado-warnings during the past week.
Many nectar resources for lepidoptera due to warm weather.
No leaf-out of Asclepias tuberosa at this time along roadsides, nor in my pasture.
