Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/04/2006

Number: 1

There was a huge storm on Monday night that produced high winds and severe damage west of here. On Tuesday afternoon things had cleared out abit and from my classroom window, which faces south, I sighted a monarch flying northwest. The winds had died down, but it was still breezy. This is the earliest I have seen a monarch in this area. We are on the direct flyway for the southern migration in the fall, but this was most unusual for spring. Could the storm have "blown" this monarch our direction?
