I got "out of the office" and drove 2.5 hrs.
south to find a Monarch to report.
Briefly saw a lone Monarch flying low to ground at Sandhills National Wildlife Refuge, just north of McBee, South Carolina. It was in a dirt track and went on ahead of us for 25 yds and then went down across a weedy field and was gone.
The time was 2:00 PM. It was breezy and cool; I saw no evidence of milkweed.
