Just came from checking 30 A. oenotheroides plants on the Cunningham Ranch.
1 adult monarch, some fade
11 eggs on 5 plants (2 plants w. 3 eggs)
15 plants with typical 1st instar chew marks, but
0 caterpillars.
Plants are small, a few with multiple stems, but none over 8" in height.
Most are 4-6" stems. Leaves are narrower than in wet years.
NO rain on the Cunningham Ranch since October 9/10 when 10" fell in 8 hours.
Grass in the pastures is still brown. No green up.
Surprisingly, there are a variety of wildflowers blooming
