Bald Eagle

Date: 04/01/2006

Number: 1

My friend and I had gone for a bike ride. We were riding down a road, not far from Great Bay in Dover, N.H. when I saw a very large bird lift off from the top of a tall white pine. "Look, I think that's an eagle," I called to my companion. "No, it's probably just a hawk." she said As it flew lower, swooping over the field, it flashed it's white tail feathers. It's white head was also clearly visible. "It's an eagle!" we both cried. I had never seen one in the wild and I almost tumbled off my bike! Later, that same weekend another sighting occured in North Berwick, Me. which is about a half hour north of where we saw our eagle. I guess they were on the move.
