Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/12/2006

Number: 1

I saw my first two hummingbirds of the season at home this morning. We put up the feeder at school, but haven't noticed any hummingbirds yet. They'll be here soon. We've had some wonderful spring weather this week. Last week, one of the students reported seeing two hummingbirds chasing each other. We have seen lots of other signs of spring. We have 5 bluebird eggs in one of the school nest boxes, and more nests being built. Tree frogs and American toads are singing in the evenings. We have seen many butterflies, but no monarchs yet.
