We're at 64 N, -96 W in Nunavit and have seen robins here in 2005 for the first time ever. Nesting?!?! Global warming!
We saw five robins up behind the NCC housing complex on June 5, 2005, just 100 meters north of the village. The next day two of them were obviously nest-building.
Inuit don't have a word for "robin." There's been a number of sightings in western Nunavut, but this was the first one here. It's still a blizzard here today, with -22°C with winds gusting to 70 kph. So no robins yet (although a couple of snow buntings have been sighted).
Reported on April, 11, 2006.
