Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/13/2006

Number: 1

After seeing my first adult two days ago, I was hopeful for yesterday because the wind was much lower than lately. However, none were seen until today when the wind was howling from the south at 20-25 mph. I observed two adults fairly close together racing north at what may have been record speeds! They were both flying very low, apx 5 feet in height. Record high temp here near 93 degrees today. With this wind lately, the Monarchs still with intact wings around here are definitely survivors!
