On Thursday, April 13th, I saw 6 monarchs at separate times during the day. All of the sightings were on Pine Island, which is just north of Sanderling. Four of the sightings were in the Pine Island Audubon Sanctuary on the sound side of the Outer Banks and two were on the ocean side. Five of the monarchs were flying north and one faded monarch flew out of the marsh as I walked through on a pier.
