Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/13/2006

Number: 1

The monarch waystation at John Jay High School is featuring denuded milkweed and 50 plus caterpillars and chrysalids this week. Students have watched instars forming chrysalids all week. Caterpillars crawl the walls of the
enclosed garden up two stories to form on the edges of the roof! Several
have also formed on the edges of pampas grass leaves and branches of redbuds in the enclosed garden. One cat seems to have been parisitiezed by tachinids - we will report on that later. Lots of fun for the general school population!
