Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/14/2006

Number: 1

Quite by chance I had another glimpse of one more Monarch fighting the south wind around mid-day today. Once again, we experienced high south winds from 20-25 mph until late afternoon with a high temp of 90 degrees. (Chicago has nothing on Oklahoma windwise.) The survivor looked amazingly in good shape, especially considering the elemental challenges. And, as in the case of the three I have seen in the past few days, my optical pleasure was all too brief. Poor flutterbyes were moved on by a power greater than themselves. Wish Texas could shut the wind-gate if there's such a "thang".
