My first monarch was last week on Friday, April 7, mid afternoon, a female with little fade in great shape, nectaring on wild strawberry blossoms, ground ivy and forsythia. She sailed into and out of my life in less than 5 minutes. After regaining composure..(!)... I realized it had just been a few days since those terrible tornadoes, the winds that practically took the paint off cars, that had upside-downed the lives of neighbors west of us in Tennessee. So this little monarch may have come in on that thermal express. Last year's first monarch was April 10.
