Two of my friends and I spent most of the day on a private lake, and we were blessed with a close encounter of the third kind from a wonderful looking adult Monarch. It almost landed on a fishing pole then came within inches of my right hand. It only hung around with us for about 5 seconds before it headed north. Skies were totally clear here today with a variable wind from 5-15 mph in the morning followed by a strong northerly wind from 15-30 mph with the arrival of a significant cool front. We had the close encounter before the cool front arrived. High temp today was around 85 degrees.
