In the Virginia Living Museum's Children's Learning Garden, the Common Milkweed sprouts measure from 4 to 17 inches tall on this date. No monarch eggs have been found on the milkweed, no monarchs sighted yet. Other species of milkweeds are just beginning to sprout, but the monarch prefer the common milkweed. Our busy teaching schedules prevented me from getting to the garden sooner.
