On this sunny afternoon (4-6-06), another teacher and I were surprised by the appearance of this female as she fluttered through our school garden, stopping briefly on the yellow blossoms of some Carolina Jasmine. This is the earliest we've ever seen any monarchs. Since then, I have seen a few more in this area of eastern North Carolina.
NO milkweed up as yet, but it shouldn't be long now that the weather has warmed up.
