Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/26/2006

Number: 1

Whooooopeeeee!!!! Finally, a hummer, large male checking out a budding lilac and a feeder. He was spooked by a starling and darted away. Hummers are very shy in this area, especially in the spring. Once all the hummer plants are blooming in the early summer, they get more relaxed and more easily viewed. I have several lilacs, azaleas, honeysuckle, columbine and rhododenderons ready to bloom, bleeding hearts are blooming nicely, so hopefully he will stick around till Mrs. Hummer arrives!!
