We spotted the first milkweed leaves in the butterfly garden outside our classroom on Monday, April 24, 2006. Outside my colleague's classroom door she noticed tropical milkweed leaves the week of April 17th. They must have reseeded themselves from last year's crop. We're glad to have both types of milkweed growing so close to our classrooms and can't wait to see the monarchs return!
