Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/24/2006

Number: 1

Museum Volunteer Elaine Whittaker reports sighting her first monarch female laying eggs on her garden milkweed on this date at 2 pm. Her wings were faded and a little torn and ragged. This is the first confirmed monarch sighting reported to me by staff or volunteers, and a little earlier than average. Just in time for Volunteer Appreciation week!
