Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/04/2006

Number: 1

My son and I spotted our first monarch butterfly of the year at 3:50 p.m. on 5/4/06 on the woodchips in our backyard. Then it flew to our nearby milkweed plants and laid eggs. We collected 7 eggs and left at least one on the plant in the garden. I have 100+ milkweed stalks varying in height from 2 to 7 inches. I live in a northwest suburb of Chicago.
