Three second grade boys sighted a monarch butterfly on the playground at The Blake School in Wayzata during our noon recess time. They were excited to report their sighting because we have raised monarch butterflies in our classroom.
We have not seen any milkweed and there are very few flowers blooming other than spring bulbs, pansies, and fruit trees. We are concerned about an adequate food supply for the butterflies. Will monarchs sip nectar from any of the flowers mentioned above?
