First orioles arrived today, loudly and cleary! Our neighbor told us she had heard one. We walked down the road and saw at least 4 and as many as 6 all at once. They were high up in the old maple trees eating (insects?) from the maple flowers. Their calls back and forth sounded like a cross between song and the scolding between family members typically heard later in the season.
