Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/16/2006

Number: 1

The Monarch was flying. I was very surprised to see it since I had only seen one other butterfly this season the day before (white butterfly). I was at work and the Monarch flew by my window but I had plenty of time to identify it. The weather up here has been very wet and fluctuating from warm to cool. Unpleasant, which was another reason for my surprise. The sun was out at the time I saw it flutter by and it was quite breezy that day. This is very early for us to have Monarchs if my memory serves me correctly. I hope they have recovered and their numbers are better this year.
