Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/19/2006

Number: 1

First monarch of the season - finally! I caught sight of it flying back and forth over the driveway on the south side of the house just before 3 p.m. It looked fresh. Today was the first warm day (above 80 F) after a cool, often cloudy period of at least two weeks. 3 p.m. weather conditions: Sunny, 84 F, dewpoint 52 F, Relative humidity 33%, northwest wind, 6 mph. The wind switched to the east-southeast within the next hour and maintained that direction the rest of the day. Precise coordinates: latitude 42.0224 N, longitude 93.6077 W.
