Today is May 20th, and I am located at the western edge of Lake Erie, at Maumee Bay State Park. After having "suffered" through ten strainght days of north winds, windy conditions, and nearly 12" of rain, we finally were cut a break in the weather today, with sunshine (YEA!) and diminishing winds.
The wind is still from the NE, but apparently not enough to slow down my "first" monarch adult of the year! Although I got only a glimpse, it appeared to be in good condition, and flying low, hopefully looking for milkweed ovipositing material! I generally do not start looking for eggs until I see my first adult, so guess what I'll be doing the rest of the week-end!
