Saw my first ruby throat today. I set out my feeder before I left the farm on the 17th of May. It was empty when I returned on the 21st and the feeder covers were pryed off. I suspect the returning orioles did some excavation work while I was gone. Last year I had a least one male Baltimore Oriole who would attempt to pry off the feeder's hole covers while sliding around on the side of the feeder.
I put up a different one today and hope it will defeat them.
