Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/23/2006

Number: 1

The Monarchs are back!!! They must have ridden here on the strong southerly wind that we had yesterday afternoon. I first saw several on my way home from work. At least 3 of them were flitting around in our back yard all evening! It was heavenly to be out planting my garden and have them around! They really seemed to enjoy the neighbor's liliacs, which are in full bloom now. The neighbor boy asked me if there were any eggs on our milkweed yet. I told him that I doubted that they had taken the time to lay eggs yet, but that he could check. We will be doing that now, checking the milkweed for eggs!
