The Monarch was on the moist stones at the edge of our lily pond when I first saw it. It only stopped for a minute and then flew north, over the house and out of my sight. I saw it at 12:10pm. It was about 22 degrees C and the wind was out of the west at about 20 km/hr. I have seen Monarchs in their fall migration before but this is the first time I have really noticed one flying so intently northward.
